Options for School

As the city continues its efforts to rescue, feed and hydrate those left in New Orleans we are all wondering what next. President Cowen has announced the semester has been surrendered to Katrina and the flood and left the students to fend for themselves. I have contacted a couple of the deans and recommended to anyone who would listen that we move the programs to our Houston campus. I have not heard back. So where does that leave us? I certainly do not know. I as many others have been furiously contacting other schools to find options for myself. Everyone I have talked to has been very understanding and some more accomodating than others. (This is mostly due to offerings and semester starts at their school.) At this time I highly recomment this course of action for all, although I am sure you are way ahead of the game.

Some other things I think must happen is that first the website must be brought back up. The career center needs to reopen and ensure Freeman Days in NY still happens. I have heard that Grant Thornton is trying to establish internships for MAcct students to work through this semester. I would also like to see how the school intends to treat the semester, is it just gone or will some if not all classes to be offered this Fall be offered in the Spring??? Finally, any word from our new dean would be nice.

Bill Sandefer has set up a Yahoo! group for us as well, here is the link:

Good luck to all and post up what you have found out there!

The link is now in the right hand column. Sorry the HTML tag didn't work in the original post.

Also, I have been accepted to Emory and may go there I am still working with Rice to see if that can be an option for me. It seems they are being very accomodating for MBAs but they do not have an acounting program so it may not work. I have also talk to Vandy and UT Austin, both said they needed to get back to me.

I think Sherri Tice's page may have had info on Beau Parent.

I hope this is an appropriate posting, but I would like to know that we would be happy to take any displaced students in our one-year MBA program at the Hult International Business School in Boston, formerly the Arthur D. Little School of Management. One advantage is that our class starts in October, so you would not have missed anything and can begin with the class—we are a fully accredited, one-year MBA (the top-ranked one year MBA in the US by The Economist) located in Boston. We have a 95% international student body and a small class size, so the class discussion is rich.
I would be happy to help facilitate this in any way. We can also provide significant financial aid through a generous new gift from a benefactor. We have room for one or two more students starting in October and would give you priority over our waiting list. I would be happy if this were helpful to any of you.

All the best,
Margaret Crotty
